Upcoming Movies

Okay so right now I am watching a lot of movie trailers. Basically wishing I was with my friends right now. They are at the movies seeing Hancock and The Dark Knight tonight. So why don't we take a look at some upcoming movie trailers and have me discuss them.

The Women (September 12)- Sex in the City brought in big bucks because it catered to an older women audience. Not to many films are made with a leading lineup of actresses in and around their forties. The Women however does feature a cast of that kind of description. So I can't help but wonder if it will be a successful movie. After all I am sure my mom would go to the movies more if there was a movie that catered to people her age. This movie is based on the 1939 star studded classic which has been updated to present day. It is about a women named Mary (Meg Ryan) who finds out that her husband is having an affair with a shop girl while all her friends were well aware of it. Something that makes this film a little different is the fact that no men are in the cast. It is a cast purely made up of women. Besides Meg Ryan there is Jada Pinkett Smith, Annette Benning, Debra Messing, and Eva Mendes as leading ladies. To me it's right up my alley. I love dark comedies and this sure seems to be one somewhat. Let's just hope it will be successful.

Burn After Reading (September 12)- This movie has an all-star cast that includes Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton (who just won an Academy Award), and Frances McDormand. Their are even more familiar faces in the trailer that will just add up as too many names if I were to write them down. The movie is about some gym employees, specifically Brad Pitt, that find a cd that is filled with memoirs of a CIA agent and try to sell it. I must say with a very talented cast like this film has I can't wait to see it. Especially John Malkovich who I love and makes me crack up in every role I see him in. He is simply amazing... as well as the rest of the cast.

The Family That Preys (September 12)- You are currently reading the blog of a girl who is a HUGE fan of Tyler Perry's work. However I can't help but wonder if this film will make the cut. After all Daddy's Little Girls did not do very well in the box office. At that point in time Tyler Perry had only put out films including his Madea character. And it seemed that audiences fell in love with Madea but wouldn't watch Daddy's Little Girls because it didn't feature Madea. However that changed with Why Did I Get Married? which was a hit. Needless to say it looks like a great movie to me. With Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard in the cast you can't go wrong. Plus Tyler Perry as always makes an appearance in this movie as a construction worker. Let's just hope that he can pull through to number one. After all if you haven't noticed the other two movies on here have the same release date. September 12th seems to be a great weekend to release star studded movies.

Righteous Kill (September 12)- Righteous Kill stars Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro as two detectives in NYC that find themselves in pursuit of a serial killer who preys on criminals. The only thing that worries me is 50 Cent. Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro are well respected actors in the business. 50 Cent is yet another crossover who maybe might be a bad thing. However I think I will just stick to the fact that Mark Wahlberg was a crossover and he won an Oscar to make me feel better. Speaking of Mark his older brother Donnie Wahlburg (another crossover) is in the film but he has talent like his younger brother (Six Sense anyone?).

Miracle at St. Anna (September 26)-It's a Spike Lee directed film...... enough said. But here is the plot in case the director doesn't convince you enough to see it. A murder committed by post-office worker Hector Negron in 1984 sets in motion an investigation that ties back to the experiences of a battalion of black American soldiers who became trapped in a Tuscan village during WWII.

Trailer

Eagle Eye (September 26)- After the success of Disturbia, director DJ Carouso, producer Steven Spielburg, and actor Shia Labouf wanted to team up again. Eagle Eye is about two strangers that become the pawns of a mysterious woman who is using them to help her further her plot for a political assasination. The only thing I worry about is the fact that Disturbia was so successful and that a reunion will live up to expectations. The trailer certainly looks good though.

W. (October 17)- W. is about none other than the life of the current President of the United States. It is a limited release which is a little strange. Prehaps Oliver Stone is thinking the same thing as I am... that this movie is most likely gonna flop. However it looks good just I don't think anyone wants to see a biopic of a President they don't like.

Teaser Trailer

Pride and Glory (October 24)- Pride and Glory is yet another NYC cop film like Righteous Kill. It stars Edward Norton, Colin Farrell, and Jon Voight. It's about Ray Tierney, a NYC cop, who is investigating the murders of four cops. As the evidence is unravels it reveals a police corruption scandal involving that may involve his brother-in-law. Many people say that the movie may be very similiar to We Own the Night. A movie that I still need to see. After reading the plots of both their are some very small details that make them somewhat the same. However besides Joaquin Pheonix in We Own the Night... Pride and Glory has far more talent in the movie. Maybe it can score an Oscar for Edward Norton... who is proven in more than one role that he is certainly worthy.

Quantum of Solace (November 7)- James Bond is back and looking better than Casino Royale!! At least lets hope it's better.

Teaser Trailer

Well that's all for now... but there is a look a look at some movies up to November. At least the ones that I think look interesting.
