Parodies are surely disaster movies!

Anyone seen the TV spots for Disaster Movie yet? I was watching something on E! when one came on. I just HATE parody movies. I think they are complete waste of time. I actually thought differently when there was just the Scary Movies. Now however they have taken it WAY TOO FAR. Seriously since then we have had Date Movie, Epic Movie, The Comebacks, Meet the Spartans, Superhero Movie, and now Disaster Movie not to mention the few that went straight to DVD. In fact I think they should realize a majority of people kind of stopped watching them after Epic Movie. After all it grossed over 86 million at the box office. The next parody film was The Comebacks and it grossed 13 million. Meet the Spartans did better than the comebacks making a total of 45 million about less than half of Epic Movie. Superhero Movie only brought in 25 million which again is half of what Meet the Spartans brought in. I won't be surprised then if Disaster Movie makes half of the last one. What is even more appalling is that the actors in Superhero Movie are in talks of a sequel.

I am sorry but I think that these movies have gone way to far. The actors of the Scary Movie franchise have probably been the most successful. Anna Faris is probably the most successful as she has gone on to do other movies like The Hot Chick, Just Friends, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, and the soon to be released The House Bunny. Shawn Wayans and Marlon Wayans are also known for teaming up together and their movies The White Chicks and Little Man. Alyson Hannigan also has recieved a lot of success but she was well known before her role in Date Movie. Before then she had been in the American Pie franchise and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series.

In my opinion the actors and actresses now cast in these movies have no talent whatsoever. They just see these as a way to get known in the business and be taken seriously. Sadly though all it does is make them look bad. Not only that but all the jokes aren't even that funny... it basically consists of bathroom humor, sexual humor, rocks falling on characters. It simply is old and not funny at all. Date Movie in my opinion was the beginning. It wasn't all that great compared to the Scary Movie franchise. You have to say that even the Scary Movies got worse as time went on.

The funny thing is that I am not the only annoyed person. Take a look at the IMDB board for Disaster Movie. There is not one positive comment on the board. Why the Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg keep making these movies and writing them is a very good question in my opinion. They aren't making as much money as they used to.... which means people are just as annoyed as I am.
